Irugbin is at demonstration stage. The season on the home page is a specimen computed from nine sample messages, the WhatsApp number is a placeholder, and no live farmer data is being collected through this site. These documents describe how the service operates and will operate at launch, so that anyone evaluating it can read the terms before there is anything to sign.
1. This agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Irugbin Technologies Ltd ("Irugbin", "we", "us"). They cover this website and the Irugbin record-keeping service delivered over chat and voice.
By sending Irugbin a message, or by using this website, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not send the message.
If you are opening a book on behalf of a co-operative, an aggregator or another farmer, you confirm you are allowed to do so and that they know their records are being kept here.
2. What the service is
Irugbin turns things you say — “bought 2 bags fertilizer 40k”, “sold 5 bags maize 90k” — into a structured farm record. It keeps the entries, does the arithmetic, and produces a season summary and a farm-record document you can hand to a lender, a co-operative or an insurer.
The arithmetic is deterministic. Costs, yields, margins and break-even figures are computed by a fixed costing engine from the entries you logged. Language models are used to read what you said, never to work out what a number should be.
3. What the service is not
- Irugbin is not a bank, a lender, an insurer or a broker, and does not hold or move your money.
- A Irugbin record is not a promise of a loan, a credit score, or a guarantee that any lender will accept it.
- Irugbin does not give financial, legal, tax or agronomic advice. Price nudges and season notes are information, not instructions. What you plant, what you spend and when you sell remain your decisions.
- A Irugbin record is not an audit. It is an honest, timestamped record of what you told us, computed correctly. It is not independent verification that those things happened.
4. Your book and your phone number
Your phone number identifies your book. Anyone with access to that number's chat can read and add to it, so treat the phone the way you would treat the physical book.
Tell us promptly if the number changes hands or the phone is lost, and we will suspend the book until you confirm a new number. We may ask you to confirm details from the ledger before we move it.
5. Accuracy is a shared job
The record can only be as true as the entries. You are responsible for what you log: amounts, dates, quantities and sales. We are responsible for reading it correctly, computing it correctly, and showing you our reading before it becomes a line.
When an entry is ambiguous, Irugbin asks rather than guesses. If we get a reading wrong, correct it in the chat and the record corrects itself — corrections are recorded as corrections, with their original line kept, because a record that can be silently rewritten is worth nothing to a lender.
Deliberately entering false figures in order to obtain credit is fraud under Nigerian law and will end your access to the service.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use Irugbin to:
- log records for a farm or a person without their knowledge and permission
- submit records you know to be false to a lender, insurer or buyer
- attempt to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service
- send unlawful, abusive or harassing content to the number
We may suspend or close a book that is being used this way, and will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
7. Credit and insurance referral
Keeping your book costs you nothing. Irugbin intends to earn from lenders and insurers who pay for structured, verified farm records — and only when you have said, in that specific instance, that they may have yours.
Consent to share is per recipient and per season. It is never implied by using the service, it is never bundled into these terms, and it can be withdrawn at any time for any future sharing. What a lender has already lawfully received, they keep — we cannot reach into their systems.
We do not sell your records to advertisers or data brokers. How sharing works in detail is set out in the privacy notice.
8. The record document
The farm record we issue is yours. You may print it, forward it, and use it however you like. Each document carries a reference and a verification address so a lender can confirm it came from us unaltered.
Specimen documents on this website are marked as specimens. Presenting a specimen as a real record of a real farm is a misuse of it.
9. Availability
We aim to keep the service reachable at all times and to answer in about a minute. We cannot promise that. Networks fail, WhatsApp changes, and we will occasionally take the service down to work on it.
Your entries are not lost when the service is unreachable. If we ever discontinue Irugbin, we will give at least 60 days' notice and a way to export every record in your book.
10. Who owns what
Your entries and your records are yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store your entries, compute them, produce your documents, and — where you have separately consented — share a record with a named recipient.
We may use aggregated, de-identified figures (for example, average maize cost per hectare in a state) to improve the costing engine and publish market information. Nothing in that use identifies you, your farm or your figures.
The Irugbin name, the software, the costing engine and this website remain ours.
11. Liability
To the fullest extent Nigerian law allows, Irugbin is not liable for lost profits, lost harvests, refused credit, prices moved against you, or decisions taken on the basis of information the service showed you.
Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the preceding twelve months, or ₦50,000.
12. Changes and ending
We may change these terms. Material changes will be sent to you in the chat, in plain language, before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that is acceptance.
You may close your book at any time by saying so in the chat. We will confirm, produce your final record, and delete or anonymise your data as described in the privacy notice.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction. Nothing in this clause removes a right you have under Nigerian consumer or data-protection law.
Questions about these terms: hello@irugbin.com. Registered office: Kaduna, Kaduna State, Nigeria.
